I am a product of my home.
Not the house but the people who were part of that home.
Not everything about home was something to celebrate.
But there were the elements
That were parts of the whole that made up my world.
The people who guided and sheltered me were integral to who I became.
I do celebrate them.
My mother made biscuits almost every morning.
My sister was truly my north star.
My aunt for whom music just came naturally.
There are objects that represent home to me.
These objects conjure up home just as the smell of a freshly cut field can take me back to a farm during hay season.
How we remember things is not necessarily how they actually were.
But even so
It is our memory that constitutes our perspective.
And becomes what we know to be true.
