Layers of Time

2025, Digital pigment prints,
8 x 10 inches

The places I photograph represent the loss of our past and reflect how fast time passes. I examine the rust on the fender of an old car, the warped form of a long-forgotten orange traffic cone, the weathered and abandoned gas station, and the weeds growing through an empty parking lot. The spaces I approach hold within them the presence and absence of life and humanity. The images form new memories for the viewer while referencing past existence. In this way, I am looking backwards and forward at the same time. How can I collect an archive with these experiences as photographs? As soon as
the pigment is printed on the paper, it is in a state of change, a process of decay and deterioration, which matches the conditions of the subjects I document. Through the photos, I want to connect and appreciate the left-behind spaces.
