Context is the ground on which we comprehend. Context means the impossibility of neutrality. It means everything when deciphering and interacting with images and language. Is it possible to eliminate context altogether? When presented with an image, the backdrop of previous cultural notions comes along with it, not to mention our personal contextualization of the image. Associating an image with words or phrases related to an image will push those preconceived ideas. What happens if you associate an image with unrelated text? Does forcing new meaning then cancel out the pre-existing one? I hope to answer these questions by way of a double cheeseburger.
